Male Dwarf puffer:

Scientific Name: Carinotetraodon travancoricus/Carinotetraodon imitator

Common Name: Dwarf Puffers, Malabar Puffers, Dwarf Indian Puffers, Pygmy Puffers, Sea Frogs, Pea Puffers, Blue Eye Puffers, Bumblebee Puffers, and Abeni Puffers

Adult Size: 3cm or 1in, smallest puffer in the world as for as we know

Water Parameters: Ph=7.2-8.3, ammonia 0, nitrite 0, nitrate <20ppm

Temperature: 80F-82F

Tankmates: Otocinclus catfish and some have luck with shrimp if they dont get eaten.

Salinity: Strictly freshwater fish, this species has been known to be sensitive to salt

Location: Inland waters of India (Kerala)

Minimum Tank Size:5g/2 dwarf puffers

Diet: Frozen: bloodworms, brine shrimp, Mysis shrimp, Daphnia, Tubifix worms, and Krill
Live: Black worms, brine shrimp, and snails

Breeding: Not to much is known about breeding. The chain store Petsmart has had success with this. This is the cause of their low prices on them.

These puffers need good water conditions. They are not as sensitive as most puffers. But make sure your tank is cycled before buying one. They can be aggressive towards each other and have been known to kill one another over territory. It is best to keep a 1/3 male female ratio to keep aggression down.
