After much prodding from Sol, Chad...basically everyone. I finally went and bought the spotlight and macro lens for my Sony digi-cam. Now, I just have to figure out how to make these F...Thirty year old (with lots of experience) eyes work on focusing.

This little guy is Eurypholis boissieri. He's a viperfish from the cretaceous sandstones of Hakel, Lebanon.

For the REAL primitive fish lover, here's a fossil Paddlefish (Protosephurus liui) from the lower cretaceous of Liaoning, China.

Here's a couple more before I call it quits for the night.
The 1st is a pic of 5 Procharcharodon megalodon teeth. The center tooth is from Chile and the rest from various rivers in Florida. All are Miocene.

The second pic is for the herp fans out there. It's a male/female pair of Captorhinus aguti from the permian beds of Oklahoma. They look small in my hand but were fairly good sized predators in their time.

Dan: I'm still trying to find the gar fossils. With over 1,000 different species and 1 1/2 tons of fish fossils, it's not easy to find something specific.
I did find a couple of interesting specimens, though...

These 3 species are from the cretaceous beds of the Santana Formation in Ceara, Brazil.

Neoproscinetes penalvai was a shell crusher

Araripelepidotes temnurus was a schooling species and prey to many other species.

And, we need a principle predator for this batch. Here's a juvenile Cladocyclus ferus. I need to dig out the 4 footer I have somewhere. This line died out. But, doesn't the head look arowana-ish?
