Ok, did a little search.

You only need a valid Missouri fishing permit to possess 100 non-game fish. You cannot collect or possess Missouri endangered and threatened species, and you can only take game species by hook and line, or as regulations permit.
The best tool for collecting native species suitable for home aquaria is a seine.

we may want to do a bit more research on this list. For cryin out loud it has GOLDFISH on it. wtf.gif
If that is true, there's a TON of people in some crap around here. I for one think this is not a restricted species list but an approved one.

This is an approved list for aquaculture and not exactly a prohibited list... There are however some questions on whether you still require a permit to keep these fish in confinement. I would highly suggest someone locally write over to the dept. in charge of such things and have them clarify their position on hobby maintenance of these fish species.

Thanks for the follow up. I really appreciate it. I absolutly agree with you. My only hang up is I know that 3 of the listed fish are freely sold in every LFS here. They are the Channel cats, Blue cats and goldfish. I am trying to find a number in which I can contact someone and get it clarified. I will be sure to post the info as soon as I get it.

I spoke to somone with F&W for this area. They said that this list is an APPROVED list of fis that can be kept in aquaria as long as it drains or empties into a septic or state approved sewage system. No permit is necessary to keep these fish but one is necessary to sell them or buy them LOCALLY. One can buy these fish afrom another state as long as the person keeps a copy of the reciept showing the number and size of the fish shipped in for 3 years. The only RESTRICTED fish in the state of MO are those that are on the Federal endangered species list. Other than that it's fair game.

Thanks,
I'll change the wording in this at the top to reflect this information..
