Aside from the fact that this is the only locally owned pet store in Fred, it's a decent fish supplier.

They carry all types of furry and lizardlike pets, along with fish. They've got minimal selection of products on the shelves, but they will order you anything you need.

The fish room isn't huge, but there's plenty to see. Along with common community fish, they've gotten some rarities recently, including an octopus and a shark egg. Their salt water selection is very decent IMO, with a beautiful SW show tank, and they've got a few brackish tanks. Freshwater selection is okay. This is the only store I've seen that stocks african rootwood.

There was another pet store in Fred, but closed because of a chain store, but Maru has been around since the late 80's/early 90's. I remember when they sold RC cars and parts in a small corner of their store when it was in Park -n- Shop shopping center. They're located next to Popeye's, on RT 218 near Breezewood shopping center.

I have to say, Maru Pets is my favorite fish store. Definatly beats out what else is in the area.

I think there are directions on their website, not sure.

Hey guys, I'm a part time employee at Maru in the fish department. It's definately the best in the area. Perhaps Maru can owe that to the fact that there's nothing else in town but a petsmart and a petco in Stafford. But it's a good place. If anyone happens to stop by and sees a guy in the fish department with long black hair, that's me, say hi!
