The second largest cichlid and the largest New World cichlid. It is also the largest of the Cichla species. Wild fish may not take to prepared foods until after many attempts. Because of its size and swimming capability, only very large tanks should be considered.

COMMENTS: It must be noted that variation in pattern and coloration can vary greatly depending on location. Although these are all bunched into one group "temensis" there are different sub-species and morphs which are currently in the process of being described and made into legitimate new groups. A goggle search for images of this fish will turn up many different temensis with differing patterning and colorations. If you would like more specific detail into this please pose a question in the peacock bass forum here at aquatic predators.
*please refer to other profiles and to the profile on cichla monoculus for some interesting information on peacock bass.
**again this is general profile information that will be updated continually, if you have questions please feel free to ask.
