The John Ball Zoo in grand rapids is a great place! but be sure to wear comfortable shoes, as it is very hilly and not an extremely easy walk.
The zoo is well built and the landscaping is nice, there is water everywhere!
in ponds, streams, and waterfalls their collection of animals is pretty decent
they have a Komodo dragon among a fair amount of reptiles and such
the aquarium there is pretty neat, the building is round and when you enter there is a beautifuly landscaped waterfall with a small pond on the side of the building
but once inside the buildling you can see through the wall (thick acrylic) and see each level of the waterfall outside is a seperate chamber holding different fish!
they also have a neat tides exhibit and some comical penguins everthing at this aquarium are cold water fish fresh and salt they also have a jellyfish annex which is quite popular.
The ape veiwing area is quite spectacular! with areas that look very natural
there is also some big cats and some bongos
all in all this is a great zoo! and different than the rest in my area
I know they had a chance to double their size from a contribution from meijer
but it was up to a vote last i knew (turboTSI how 'd that turn out?)

the address is 1300 W. Fulton
