This is our favorite zoo ! it is not vast as many zoo's are, as it is located in a metropolitan area but it is packed with quality exhibits!
the Toledo Zoo was started in 1900 and has several historic depression era buildings
they have recently added a new Africa area with a large area for many different kinds of animals in one setting
this zoo has it all from a great primate area (they just had baby gorillas, and an orangutan!)
they also have wolves, a bald eagle exhibit, and an artic zone with polar bears and seals
you can check out their aviary with an amazing array of different birds
they have a food court in the old "big cat" house it looks weird to me as i can remember seeing and smelling the lions and tigers that used to live there!
one of the great things about the toledo zoo is that you don't have to walk too far to get to the next exhibit
don't forget to see the hippoquarium where you get to look through a cross section of a hippo pond!
there also is an awesome botanical garden!
and many other things too numerous to mention
oh yeah they have a great reptile house! and aquarium of course!
although the aquarium is quite old they have many interesting displays like an amazon walk through with birds flying around and a sloth lurking about (i can only find him once in a while)
they also have a huge saltwater puffer and reef and shark displays
anyways if you get the chance to go to the toledo zoo
you won't be disappointed!

also don't forgot the toledo zoo is always ranked in the top 8 in the USA, seems to be number 4-6 alot of the time. they are always adding new things each year to make it much more. I heard rumors of them doing more to our aqua friends . we can only hope, it needs some work as it's been the same for many years, but it is still a good area with alot of fish. and some nice sharks
