Hello. This is my first post on this forum. I've been keeping fish since I was a young kid and have had many tanks over the years, but I'm new to the large predatory freshwater fish hobby.

I've spent a few days reading through posts on this board and others, and it's really interesting going into the different sub-forums and seeing how passionate people are about one species or another. Everyone has different favorites, which is what makes the hobby interesting.

It's possible to get a feel for how popular various fish are by looking at the traffic of posts in their forums, but I'm interested to see how people would respond when asked to name the favorite fish they've ever kept. By this I mean that one that gave you the most enjoyment and entertainment overall, which could be tied to how interesting the fish was to observe, its personality, its eating habits, etc. Thanks for participating!

I would also say pbass. There colours are amazing, they get big and impressive, there active and the feeding is great fun. If I had the space I would keep them again for shure.

Lungfish for me. I love the intelegence and interactiveness of the fish, also so little is known about them that working with them gives the feeling of exploring new territory. I would keep more if I had the rescources.
Why not?

Same here.. GAR...
First fish I ever kept some 20 odd years ago and I've never turned from them. There is so little known about these toothy ganoids that one can easily spend decades keeping them and still never bore of them, or not have something new to learn from them.

Our Clown Knife thumbsup.gif First large oddball we got about 5 years ago, started the whole oddball obsession (not easy in a country that doesn't import many oddballs).
I'd be unstoppable....... if I could just get started.........

My pike cichlids have so much personality and toughness that I enjoy more than some of the other fish that I've had.... I also can't wait for some of my Parachromis to grow up. In my pops' tank, we have a 12" oscar who is almost like a small dog.... I say SA/CA cichlids.
