I was just wondering if I could keep any kind of Arowana in a 225 gal. with a florida gar and a datnoid? Or will the tank be too small? But if one can, can you please tell me which species you'd suggest to keep with these tankmates in this size tank? I have never kept arowana before. I have seen a lot of tanks with this combination of fish, but the tank was bigger... mostly asian aros too. Anyway thanks in advance!
125 gal.- Still thinking about it...
75 gal.- SA/CA cichlids
55 gal.- Malawi Mbuna

Hi smile.gif

If the footprint of the tank is quite large (for example a custom 200 cm * 80 cm * 50 cm/79" * 31" * 20" has a volume of 800l/211 gals) you could keep SA-Aros for some time, but they will outgrow even such a tank as they are big AND active. If I remember correctly Scleropages leichardti SHOULD max out at ~60 cm/~24" in captivity (maybe not wink.gif) so that could be an option, but even then I'd recommend a longer tank than 200 cm in the long run.

~ 15 years ago I had an over 40 cm/16" long silver arowana in my 177g (180 cm * 60 cm/71" * 24"), at 60 cm/24" this fish would have been too big for that tank in my eyes.

thanks! That clears up things. I wana put a black aro in here. If worst comes to worst and his growth really spurts quickly I can get a custom tank to fit him perfectly.
