Hi lungfish-keepers :)

I'm just interested how everyone's lungfish is doing. There were quite some people on this board that kept lungfishes, how are they doing and how big are they now ?

My annectens just got monstrous. He's now ~98 cm/~39 inches long and between 15 and 20 cm/6 to 8 inches in diameter. Noticeable growth in length stopped one and a half year ago, he only gained girth and weight very slowly.
Also he got very very lazy. He'll only move when he breathes (every ~ 30 minutes if he was in "stasis" before ), eats or something in the tank was changed by me (what he surely has to inspect and rearrange *gg*).
This year a bigger tank will be realized and I'll try to weigh this fish, he has to be much heavier than ALL my other fish together .

Feeding has been reduced to one or two chunks of meat (fish, beef and sometimes chicken) per week plus various types of floating pellets that he prefers to take from the surface  (very very handy, with pellets I'm able to vary the diet 'cause he absolutely dislikes nearly every other prepared food).
At this stage he'll currently eat HALF the amount he demanded when he was ~50 cm/~20 inches long and maybe three times lighter than he's now, this marks the end of growth in my eyes.

What I found interesting ist that he "lost" the ability to digest very fatty food items that are also quite high in protein. When he was younger Zoophobas were never a problem, he digested them normally and I sometimes found the remaining of their "shells". Since he grew past 60 cm/~24 inches those larvae will "come out" quite untouched and would foul the water.

I'd post pictures, but currently the forum won't let me :( .

greets

Peter

Thanks for posting Michael/Gorilla Breath and good to hear 'bout your fish :).

Dang, my lung snacked away one of the community-bala sharks <_< , some things never change, and I realised that I have this leg of a fish since seven years :).
