I hope he pulls through. On the other hand, the fry and the female seem to be doing great.

Thanks, I just went out and bought a second 50w so I can keep my tank at a stable 83 degrees throughout the night and day, and I bought some Daphnia to feed to the fry.

Imho you can go (slowly) to 30°C/86°F plus safe aeration. I'd change the water quite frequently (even if all "nitrogens" and phosphate are zero, there may be other "stuff"). It will boost the fry's development and may help the sick male. Also I'd try liquid vitamins, at least it will not hurt.

I've been doing about a 10%-15% water change everyday for the past week. The male is perking up a bit but still has nothing to do with the fry and he is still doing alot of nothing just sitting on the bottom. He will sometimes swim around the tank and stop by the female, but only a few times a day.

I also just bought hikari first bites and I'm going to feed that along with the hikari daphnia for the fry.

I think I may be able to pull this off haha. But once this batch of fry mature and move out, or don't make it I think I'm going to make it more of a community tank and put some tetras in there.

Ok, I went on a ski trip over the past 3 days (i snowboard), and when I came back, all the fry were gone. :( They were quite large when I left and I couldn't wait to see their size when I came back. The male on the other hand is back to good health with vibrant colors, and his red eyes are back. I'm not sure If the fry were eaten or they died because of lack of feeding or water quality. When I was gone I left my family in charge of feeding them and the daily water changes, so I'm not sure what actually was the cause of death.

Anyway, Since I no longer have to worry about fry being eaten, I have got myself some beautiful Cardinal tetras,
