as i teen i had an arowana for years ,it was great had it as a baby unfortunately it got to big for my tank and gave it to a friend with a 300 gal loved that guy hand fed him for years

Gars all the way they are way more personable.
180 gallon: 1 Payara (Hydrolocus Scombroides), 1 Shovelnose catfish (Sorbium Lima), 2 Florida Gars (Lepisosteus Platyrhincus)

55: 1 Common Pleco, 1 African Butterfly, 1 African Knife, 1 Rope Fish, 1 Twig Catfish

10: 1 Male Bluegill

IMO, i like gars better because they don't get drop eye. But arowanas are beautiful :S

Also this fourum is pretty biased, half the people that say gars can't defend themselves have never kept a gar. In the pet shop where I bought her, my deceased florida gar (5 inches when I got her 18 inches when she died) beat the living tobasco sauce out of the 6 inch clown knife in with her whenever It came anywhere near her. Also alot of people say their gars are lazy, thats because your tanks are too crowded and your gars have nowhere to frolic like mine do day in and day out. Although, I can't say I don't respect Arowana or their keepers they are awesome fish, and the people who keep them are pretty skilled in the hobby. smile.gif

i got a small gar and a big aro in the same tank...love em both...gotta special feeling towards the silver but i like the all around swimming gar family
of course i wanna b d1, but only if yall do 2
