Aquatic World- 3039 N. Lincoln ave. Chicago, IL 60657

Sorry to say I have given up on this store. I was there about 3 or 4 times during the spring and most of the freshwater tanks were infected with ick. These visits were at 1 month intervals.

Large Saltwater selection.

Good cichlid selection.

Bettas - a few sorry veils in small breeder barracks hanging inside community or cichlid tank.

Good selection of oddballs.

Poor selection of plants (not healthy).

Prices- average, not cheap.

If you do purchase fish, I recommend an extended quarantine period.

I would like to hear from someone who has been there recently.

They've relocated to 2029 W. Belmont. Scaled back their retail business and now focus primarily on their maintenance service. Retail hours are limited to Saturdays 10AM-6PM.

Very friendly and knowledgeable staff.

3-day guarantee on fish. I've had mixed luck. The 2 firemouths I purchased have been healthy and active since day 1. However, I also purchased 2 severums at the same time, which developed fungal infections and died within the first month. I suspect that they were already infected when I got them as they exhibited symptoms immediately after purchase. After they died, I got another severum from Old Town Aquarium and haven't had any trouble.

I purchased my first ray there years ago. I believe the owner's name was Shawn.

I remember it being a pretty good store. Too bad it has gone down hill. Is that Belmont just west of Damon?
